Following the success of the first UMS Research Symposium 2023 (UMS-ReS2023), we are excited to announce the second edition,
UMS-ReS2, 2024. This symposium continues to serve as a vital platform for Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) postgraduate
students to showcase their research progress, particularly for those whose work is supported by the Geran Bantuan Penyelidikan
Pascasiswazah UMS (UMSGreat). In addition, UMS-ReS2 also welcomes researchers funded by the UMS internal research grant
to present their latest research findings. This inclusion will provide a broader spectrum of research being showcased
at the symposium, facilitating interdisciplinary discussions and collaborations that can lead to new insights and innovations.
UMS-ReS2 will not only offer students and researchers an opportunity to present their ongoing work but also to engage in
meaningful discussions with peers and experts, enabling them to refine their research further. Participants are encouraged
to collaborate closely with their supervisors (for UMSGreat students) or research team members to ensure that their presentations accurately reflect
the current status of their work, allowing for potential adjustments to research plans and schedules as needed.
In addition to being a platform for academic growth, UMS-ReS2 will also focus on the university’s commitment to
community engagement. The symposium will serve as a conduit for knowledge transfer, where research outcomes and
expertise from UMS can be leveraged to assist local communities. This initiative underscores the university’s role
in not only advancing academic knowledge but also in contributing to the socio-economic development of the surrounding regions.
UMS-ReS2 will also continue to emphasize the importance of publication, providing postgraduate students and researchers
with a platform to prepare and submit their research findings for publication in indexed journals.
It is crucial for participants to work closely with their supervisors or research teams throughout the manuscript
preparation process to ensure the content meets the standards required for publication.
We look forward to another successful symposium that fosters academic growth, community engagement, and the advancement of research at UMS.
